Better than I expected :)
I bought the tickets, unaware of this new Cabaret thing they are doing. I was excited to see Pittsburgh Opera, but until after, I wasn't sure I would like the show with the added "entertainment." It was a great show, and I'm glad I went.
They could have made it a *really* distasteful show with acts between and during songs, but it was nicely done. Overall, some of it I could have done without, but it was a great show. They just started right up, no opening band.
Since I used to watch their vids on MTV (remember that?), I am 27 and have been a fan for basically 20 years. For being 51 years old, Geoff Tate looks *amazing*. He cut all his beautiful hair off though. I have had a long-time crush on him, by the way ;)
Many long-time fans were disappointed with the Cabaret show, and I read former reviews. I miss Chris DeGarmo, but the new guitarist is great too. I think they successfully incorporated the art of Cabaret with their awesome music and made for a great show. But I would have loved seeing the old QR. I noticed the set list for their Moscow show was better though; they played "Silent Lucidity" and "I Don't Believe in Love," neither of which were played in SF.
